Adventures of a teenage author...

This is Marta, author of the Darkwoods series and of Marta's Blog. I created this blog specifically for blogging about my 2015 study abroad adventures in Europe, but it's becoming the blog for all my travels. I hope you enjoy all the pictures and stories!

Day 5 - Florence

Florence... the start of the Renaissance, the home of the Medici and Michelangelo, and the place to buy fine leather products. This ended up being a lot of people's favorite place, and I have to say that is was a unique experience.

Pictures:

The famous bridge that holds all the gold shops.

Views from the hill overlooking the city. These pictures don't quite capture the beauty. The city just stretches on, and then the mountains just rise up very suddenly. It's a spectacular view.

The basilica built with the funds from the Medici. It's the fourth largest in the world, and I don't think there's a word to describe how big it is when you're standing in front of it. I didn't even try to capture the whole think in one picture - there is just no point.

The stone used to build it is all marble - white, green, and pink.

Inside

The guys in our group wanted to get "manscarves" while in Florence, and they even convinced Dr. Moldenhauer to get one:

If you played a drinking game, taking a drink every time one of them said "manscarf," you could be drunk in about ten minutes.
