Leaving Dublin

I scurried from my final exam to a flight to Gatwick. Here are some fantastic pictures I got from the plane:

My Last Day in Dublin - The Brazen Head

The Brazen Head is the oldest pub in Dublin. It's fairly close to the River Liffey, the river that divides Dublin. My roommate Giorgia and two other friends went with me for drinks as a goodbye party:




My Last Day in Dublin - the Viking Museum

This is housed in one of the Christ Church buildings. Dublin was founded by Vikings, so the museum follows the founding of the city. (By the way, Dublin comes from the Viking name, and it means something like "black pool"; the Irish name for Dublin is Baile Atha Cliath.)



We get our word "berserk" from "bear shirt!" Who would have thought?

My Last Day in Dublin - Christ Church Cathedral

The main cathedral in Dublin, built by Viking King Sitruic Silkenbeard. You can find out more about their history here. I didn't go into the main sanctuary because it was closed, but here are the pictures I did get:









St. Stephen's Green

St. Stephen's Green was the nice little park that I liked to walk through sometimes. It has a few tributes to famous Irish men and women.
