Adventures of a teenage author...

This is Marta, author of the Darkwoods series and of Marta's Blog. I created this blog specifically for blogging about my 2015 study abroad adventures in Europe, but it's becoming the blog for all my travels. I hope you enjoy all the pictures and stories!

Leaving Dublin

I scurried from my final exam to a flight to Gatwick. Here are some fantastic pictures I got from the plane:
Yep, that's a rainbow. And the plane's shadow.

The Irish Sea - on the way to England!

My Last Day in Dublin - The Brazen Head

The Brazen Head is the oldest pub in Dublin. It's fairly close to the River Liffey, the river that divides Dublin. My roommate Giorgia and two other friends went with me for drinks as a goodbye party:

My Last Day in Dublin - the Viking Museum

This is housed in one of the Christ Church buildings. Dublin was founded by Vikings, so the museum follows the founding of the city. (By the way, Dublin comes from the Viking name, and it means something like "black pool"; the Irish name for Dublin is Baile Atha Cliath.)

We get our word "berserk" from "bear shirt!" Who would have thought?

Views from the top of the Cathedral:

My Last Day in Dublin - Christ Church Cathedral

The main cathedral in Dublin, built by Viking King Sitruic Silkenbeard. You can find out more about their history here. I didn't go into the main sanctuary because it was closed, but here are the pictures I did get:

St. Stephen's Green

St. Stephen's Green was the nice little park that I liked to walk through sometimes. It has a few tributes to famous Irish men and women.

This was the description of that fountain

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day in Dublin! I don't think it gets more Irish than that! Of course, I wore green and colored my hair a little bit in honor of this special day.

It took several tries for the green, white, and orange to stay:

We missed the Dublin parade because just as we got to the bus station, the Newtownmountkennedy parade was going by. Personally, I preferred this parade anyway, because it was pretty cool:

It's St. Patrick!

Even though we missed the parade, we still got quite a show in Dublin:

Yes, that is an adult leprechaun suit. I almost got one myself.

I didn't take many more pictures because I was having too much fun looking at everything.
